Violence against women and girls is one of the most systematic and common human rights violations, globally, including in the EU. Eliminating physical or sexual violence requires intensive efforts of all relevant actors in our societies. The EU Gender Equality Strategy 2020-2025 shows the commitment of the European Commission to prevent and combat gender-based violence, support and protect victims, and hold perpetrators accountable. In line with the Gender Equality Strategy and the international commitment embedded in the Istanbul Convention, the CERV programme funds initiatives to prevent and combat gender-based violence.
The SEE Change project is implemented by Calala Fondo de Mujeres (Calala), Ecumenical Women's Initiative (EWI) and the Mediterranean Women's Fund (MedWF). The project aims at preventing and combating gender-based violence in nine countries of South and East of Europe (SEE), namely Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Cyprus, France, Greece, Italy, Kosovo, Serbia, and Spain.
