The first calls for CERV have been published on the European Commission’s Funding & Tender Opportunities Portal (F&TP) and more calls will follow in the coming weeks.
Strengthening and promoting EU rights and values is a top priority of the European Commission. The new Citizens, Equality, Rights & Values (CERV) programme reflects this priority, and with an overall budget of 1.55 billion euro for the next 7-year period it represents the biggest-ever EU fund for promoting and protecting fundamental rights, rule of law and democracy inside the EU.
As such, the CERV programme builds on the successes of the former Europe for Citizens programme, whose calls were managed by EACEA during the 2014-2020 funding period, as well as on the successes of the Rights, Equality and Citizenship programme.
The CERV programme consists of four pillars:
- Union Values - to protect and promote Union values
- Equality, Rights and Gender Equality - to promote rights, non-discrimination and equality, including gender equality, and to advance gender mainstreaming and the mainstreaming of non-discrimination
- Citizens' engagement and participation - to promote citizens' engagement and participation in the democratic life of the Union and exchanges between citizens of different Member States, and to raise awareness of their common European history
- Daphne - to prevent and combat gender-based violence and violence against children
