TOURBiNE is a project that empowers young people with fewer opportunities, particularly NEETs (youth not in employment, education or training), to build careers in community-based tourism. By bringing together partners from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Greece, Egypt, Jordan, the Netherlands, Tunisia and Turkey, the project aimed to train young people with basic competencies and digital skills in the tourism and heritage sectors to facilitate their employment opportunities and entrepreneurial skills. Participants improved their ability to design experiences in cultural areas by strengthening their gamification and digital content development skills. The project’s outputs include a community-based web application, a course on the “Gamification of Heritage” and 6 games connected to 60 heritage locations, focusing on the combination of storytelling, interactivity, and learning about history, culture, and heritage. These games are used both onsite, in real heritage locations, and as interactive digital experiences, helping users learn about local history, archaeology, myths, and cultural practices through gamified challenges and quests. The project also showcased these results at ITB Berlin 2024, one of the largest global tourism fairs, which enhanced project’s visibility and engagement with the tourism sector at international level.Learn more about the projectProgramme: Erasmus+ (Youth)Back to the 20 years page to discover other project stories
