Par-Olympia is a sport event aiming at promoting social inclusion and equal opportunities through sport. During the event, young people with disabilities enjoy, learn, and connect under the Olympic spirit in Athens. Coaches and volunteers also can improve their skills toward inclusion through seminars and satellite activities. The Par-Olympia event took place at the Athens Olympic Stadium from 27 September to 4 October 2023, bringing together 250 young individuals with disabilities from 12 European countries. They took part in 16 sports activities, alongside 1500 school pupils from Athens, specially invited by the Greek Minister of Education. The participants were introduced to various parasports, supported by enthusiast volunteers, experienced sports coaches and Paralympic Greek athletes. The project succeeded in cultivating social interaction and mutual understanding among participants, both with and without disabilities, from diverse European backgrounds. Overall, the event not only celebrated diversity and the transformative power of sports but also left a lasting impact on all involved, highlighting the importance of inclusivity and interconnectedness in society.
