New factsheet! Erasmus+ - Erasmus Mundus programme implementation in the context of COVID-19

Find out about trends in the implementation of Erasmus Mundus during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Erasmus+ Programme, Erasmus Mundus programme implementation in the context of COVID-19

The COVID-19 pandemic had a major impact on the Erasmus Mundus programme and participating Higher Education Institutions, students and scholars. Therefore, the European Commission and the European Education and Culture Executive Agency (EACEA) put in place several measures to support Erasmus Mundus consortia. The measures included three surveys carried out by EACEA in May and October 2020 and in October 2021, in order to gather quantitative and qualitative data from Erasmus Mundus consortia about the impact of the pandemic on the programmes and the students.

This factsheet compares the results of the October 2020 and October 2021 surveys to show the trends in the implementation of the Erasmus Mundus programme during the COVID-19 pandemic between the academic years 2020-2021 and 2021-2022. The analysis of the results of both surveys showed that the consortia are moving towards scenarios closer to the pre-pandemic period. Furthermore, the analysis indicated that the impact of the pandemic on students has decreased as onsite activities resume.
