Over the past two decades, the Erasmus Mundus action has promoted deeper cooperation across the European Higher Education Area (EHEA) by funding 585 high-level integrated Master's programmes delivered by international consortia of higher education institutions. What makes these joint Master’s programmes unique is their high degree of ‘jointness’ required across all aspects, from student admission and selection to degree awarding.
To explore and strengthen this key feature, the European Education and Culture Executive Agency (EACEA) organised a thematic seminar, “Planning and delivering jointness in Erasmus Mundus Master’s programmes” (7 and 8 November 2024). Experienced university staff and policy makers convened to exchange knowledge, expertise, and good practices on the topic of jointness, the level of cooperation and integration applied in their joint EM Master's programmes.
We are excited to present a publication that captures the key insights from this seminar. Combining findings from desk research, interviews, surveys and the seminar proceedings, it provides an in-depth analysis of ‘jointness’ in Erasmus Mundus programmes, its challenges, best practices, and insights for the future.
