Turning policy into actionSince 2006, EACEA has acted as the bridge between European policy and on-the-ground impact. As an executive agency, we work closely with seven Directorates-General of the European Commission to manage funding for programmes covering education, training, youth, sport, culture, audiovisual, citizenship, and solidarity. Our role is to bring these policies to life. We publish calls for proposals, evaluate applications, and support beneficiaries throughout their entire project journeys. By monitoring progress and sharing insights from these projects with policymakers, we also help shape the future of EU policies. Evolving with Europe The world has changed significantly since 2006, and EACEA has evolved alongside it. Our portfolio has expanded with new actions and programmes such as Sport, Intra-Africa Mobility Scheme, European Solidarity Corps, and our methods have adapted to meet emerging challenges, from the digital transition to shifting geopolitical contexts. Transparency, commitment, and collaboration remain at the heart of our work. Whether supporting lifelong learning trough Erasmus+, nurturing culture and creativity through Creative Europe, or promoting democratic values and solidarity via the Citizens, Equality, Rights and Values programme and the European Solidarity Corps, we ensure our support remains agile and relevant. Over the last 20 years, EACEA has more than tripled its budget for projects with: +1 300 calls for proposals launched+200 000 proposals received+70 000 projects brought to life The people behind the Agency Our work is driven by a diverse team of over 600 professionals from 27 different nationalities. Some have been part of this journey since day one, witnessing the agency’s transformation firsthand. 'Working at EACEA since its very beginning has been deeply gratifying. From the Jean Monnet programme to Sport, I have grown with an Agency that continues to evolve while staying true to its core values: excellence, service to citizens, and belief in our programmes as forces for unity and positive change. What makes it rewarding? Turning good ideas into real opportunities for people across Europe — and enjoying the journey together…' - Luciano Di Fonzo, Deputy Head of Unit, Erasmus Mundus and Sport 'Working on programs like Erasmus+ means that you don't just administer grants! One is directly servicing projects, which address high-level European policies into tangible action. Projects that aim to improve learning, teaching, and collaboration throughout the EU to shape better pedagogical approaches. Personally, I have always experienced this as a unique opportunity to drive change and innovation across critical areas such as digital education, the green transition, and social inclusion. Being able to support such partnerships across the EU and beyond makes me proud to be working at EACEA!' - Erik Ballhausen, Project Advisor, Platforms, studies and analysis Unit 20 years, 20 stories of impact To celebrate our 20th anniversary, we are highlighting 20 projects that showcase the diversity and impact of our funding.
