New publications: Creative Europe’s support to the book sector and Literary translations playbook

Between 2021 and 2024, 124 projects were funded under the various schemes of the Culture strand of Creative Europe to promote youth-oriented literary works and to support young professionals in the book and publishing sector, including 108 literary translation projects. Through these 108 projects, Creative Europe has supported supported 2,094 translations of 1,870 books. Thanks to the “Circulation of European Literary works” action, more than 1 book a day is translated for the first time, published and distributed.  

Creative Europe’s support to the book sector specifically focuses on projects working on the theme of youth selected and funded during this period. It highlights the diversity of projects with youth-oriented literary works, including children’s literature, young adult literature, comics, and other genres, showing the richness of European literature for young audiences. 

The European Education and Culture Executive Agency has also published a Literary translations playbook, a comprehensive catalogue paying tribute to all the projects funded in 2022 and 2023 under the "Circulation of European literary works" scheme.
