European Solidarity Corps

(2014-2020) Supporting activities and projects that foster solidarity in European society.

From 2018-2020, the European Solidarity Corps aimed to foster solidarity in European society, engaging young people and organisations in accessible and high-quality activities.

The European Solidarity Corps offered opportunities for 100,000 young people to help resolve challenging situations across Europe. With a budget €375.6 million for 2018-2020, it was able to support participants in carrying out volunteering activities, traineeships and jobs, and in running their own solidarity projects.

The programme implemented the following operational actions:

  • volunteering,
  • traineeships and jobs,
  • solidarity projects.

Additionally, the European Solidarity Corps supported a series of quality and support measures and non-formal and informal learning.

These actions were managed partly at the national level by National Agencies and partly at the European level by EACEA. The European Commission was responsible for European Solidarity Corps policies and oversaw the overall programme implementation.

European Solidarity Corps actions managed by the EACEA were:

  • volunteering teams in high priority areas,
  • quality labels at European level.

Besides these actions, EACEA was also responsible for providing the European Solidarity Corps's participants with the following horizontal services:

  • insurance,
  • online linguistic support,
  • general online training.
